Whenever a person hears the word mother they generally think of their own mother. Someone who is always there for you whenever you need them. It is communism which is thought to be the main factor behind this mentality. Very strong family values are learned when brought up in a communist society. Self dedication, responsibility and helping the community are also all considered very worthy traits for a person to have. One of the greatest things a person can do in this society is to help another. Even if it’s detrimental to themselves. These things have been passed down to daughter from mother and will continue to do so.

Russian men often take these women and their loving and caring nature for granted as they experience it all their lives. And the men do not really no how to appreciate their wives, so end up treating them badly. Unbelievably, the women are expected to take care of the children, clean the home, cook all the meals and work an eight hour a day job, all on their own.

With the end of the cold war, western influences have begun to appear in Russia. And the women there are beginning to realize that not all men treat their wives the way that they do in the East. A lot of women in Russia have heard stories of very happy lives in foreign countries. Most women have a friend or have heard of someone that has married a foreign man and now loves their new life abroad.

When Russian women see or hear how their friends are being treated abroad and compare it to how things are in their homeland, they soon realize they deserve much better.
