Historical Site Conservation

by Paul Markson

How many times do you come across important historical buildings damaged by neglect and abuse? Every country must maintain its historic places. Because buildings like malls, parks and highways can be built anywhere. But a historic site which is neglected and abused will lose its attraction and over time will fall into rubble. And no amount of strategy or attention will be able to bring a historic place back to its past attraction when it has been totally neglected and damaged by people. The most important historic sites can be preserved for the following generations if we follow a proper plan for their maintenance.

Maintaining historic places must have a structured process. If the historic location is conserved with the aid of a correct plan, it will bring about amazing results. While designing a program for the conservation of historic locations, its vital to maintain the out goings within limits. If the spending rise to an unwanted limit, it will draw negative attention from the local populace and result in tighter limits for the conservation of other alternative buildings in the future.

The most important job which should be done by restoration experts is to test for the age of the historic site. This will be quickly achieved by carrying out a program of scientific tests. It can also be completed if there are public or archaeological records of the site. after you know the true age of the historic location, we discover the true worth of the site ” this doesnt mean that if a site is not very old ” its not worth taking care of.

You should check the suitability of the materials that were used on the historic location. This will require a complete list of all the materials used on all the structures found at the site. Issues such as the impact of temperature, humidity, weathering, fire, air pollution, storms and flood on the resources found on the site needs to be studied carefully, so that best possible plan to limit further harm to the area.

It is important to track the layout of any buildings constructed on the site. This is needed to help conservation experts according to the style they specialize in. Taking the assistance of the most experienced experts who are not skilled in the architectural design displayed at the historic site would cause a huge issue for your conservation project. Without keeping track the right way, you could rebuild the site wrong.

Your crew of conservation professionals also need to keep a track of all the existing maintenance and fixes undertaken at the historic location. The problems encountered by the previous restoration staff while looking after or fixing the historic site too needs to be accounted for and recorded. Always remember resources such as wood and leather rot very quickly, where as stone materials and pottery objects will always manage to survive better. You could even need to limit the number of public so that restoration efforts can be completed properly. Ensuring conservation of these sites is of the utmost importance.

Green Environmental Travel

by Matthew Kepnes

With the number of adventurers traveling the world increases all the time, the environmental effect of tourism only gets worse every year. Vacationers have a tendency to make copious amounts of junk- few tourists recycle when traveling, hotels are very inefficient, and airplanes spew carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. All in all, travel can be pretty environmentally unfriendly.

With climate change, deforestation, and species extinction the defining issues of the day, it’s more important than ever that our travels become environmentally friendly. Over the past decade, a movement has grown within in the travel industry called “ecotourism” to help make that possible. Eco-tourism deals with sustainable travel- both for the environment and for local populations. It promotes environmental and social awareness and, typically, eco-tours go to countries where the flora and fauna are abundant. Think Costa Rica, Tanzania, the Amazon, and New Zealand.

While the majority of eco-tours are simply greener versions of everyday tours, others offer specific angles: Volunteering: Many tours are based on participants volunteering in local community initiatives and clean up projects. Local Cultures: Many tours focus on educating groups about the local culture. This includes cooking classes, home stays, and language classes. The idea is to spread cultural respect and understanding while decreasing everyone’s environmental impact. Environmental education: These tours focus on highlight environmental issues in a local area and what can be done to improve the situation.

Ecotourism promotes environmental awareness among its participants and reduces the environmental impact of travel. Companies use local products, local guides, and visit organizations that use sustainable and low impact methods. There is also the social impact. By creating self sustaining industries and training locals, eco-tours help ensure that improvised communities develop financial independence giving them less incentive to cut down the environment that feeds them.

Moreover, it promotes local conservation and trains locals on how protecting the environment is good for the planet but also for their wallet. Many companies run conservation programs and train locals on how to look after the environment. After all, no flora and fauna, no travel business.

The environment is the defining issue of our century. Climate change affects us all and, if we don’t being reducing our footprint, these wonderful places in the world might soon vanish. Travel is a great experience and helps promote cultural understanding but normal travel has a heavy environmental impact. For those who a green spirit, this can present a problem. Yet we should not have to decide between travel and the environment and, with eco-tours, we can sleep well knowing we can have our cake and eat it too.

People to to avoid traveling long term because people feel it is costly and feel they cant save enough money to afford the trip but that is simply not true. One of the greatest fallacies about long term travel and travel in general is that it is pricey. People think that to travel you need to be wealthy because all people see on TV are advertisements for expensive holidays but real travel is not like that. Travel is actually very cheap if you do it right. A person could travel around the world on less than $15,000 dollars- and I bet people spend more than that to live.

You may think that is a lot of money but in terms of living off just that for one year, it sounds quite reasonable. You may already spend more than that. It also sounds impossible to save but you’re wrong again. There are many ways to save that much money in a year.

That sum of money works out to be around $1,200 US dollars per month and there are many ways to save that. Think about how much money you spend per month and how much you save. If you save 500 dollars, then you only need to find another 700 dollar per month. Do you think there is an extra 700 dollars in your budget? I know there is. You just need to find and cut the fat.

The easiest things to cut out are your vices. One cup of coffee a day is $150 dollars a month. A pack a day smoker would save $210 dollars per month. A typical night out on the town can cost around $50 dollars or more in a big city, and since most people go out two nights a week, you could save $400 dollars. Already we have saved $400 or more dollars, depending on your habits.

There are a lot of ways to save money. The trick is to be less of a consumer. People love to buy things and spend money but you can’t. It is just wasteful. Think of the larger goal. You are going to travel around the world. You need to make a budget of all the things you spend money on and cut out all non essential items. This will help you save. It’s easy if you just trim the fat and consume less.

If you follow the tips from above, there is no way you won’t be able to save for your trip. Your friends might not see you for a long time and you may be brown bagging it to work a lot but in the end you will be traveling around the world and that will be worth all the sacrifice you did. No guts, no glory. No saving, no traveling.

Have a Great Vacation

by Kermil J. Fogarth

You worked hard for a year and now you need a vacation to relieve all that stress and to try and come back with memories worth sharing with friends.

Taking your family along, if you have one, implies the fact that you must consult them when choosing a location. Surprises are always welcomed, but if you have children and you decide to spend your vacation in a city that has nothing fun to offer them, then the surprise turns into a nightmare. Going away from friends, even if for a week, seems to children something that requires an effort, so try and make them want that vacation by offering them exciting new things to do, things that can combine education and pleasure.

Having chosen a location the next thing to consider is the weather. It probably is different there than at home. For example, the mountains tend to be a little cool even in the summer so you should bring along clothing that is appropriate for that kind of weather. On the other hand, if you are going to a tropical or hot location, don’t forget to bring an umbrella. In the tropics though it is summer most of the year, it usually rains every day and you don’t want heavy rains to ruin your vacation.

Visiting various places around the world can be exciting. If you don’t have budget constraints, a trip around the world to see the “seven wonders” is always worth it. A good place to visit is the Pyramids which are filled with mystery from ancient Egyptians, produced by a technology and architecture barely matched today. Walking through these wonders of the world brings out the mystery and contrast between them and the people and splendor of the area.

Vacations don’t have to mean travel. You can spend time at home relaxing and catching up on lost sleep if you are already too exhausted to travel. Just having friends over, cooking out, relaxing by the pool with the children can make the hard year just over seem like it never happened.

A vacation can simply be time spent at home winding down or an exciting trip to exotic places. Planning the vacation can be as intense as actually taking the vacation even if you stay at home. The vacation should not be stressful when the purpose is to relieve stress.

Travel Lodge FAQ’s

by Dino Williams

Booking travel tickets and hotel rooms remains the first thing on the to-do-list when planning a trip. If you haven’t made arrangements in advance, the search for a good travel lodge before the vacation period is exhausting.

Tourism agents advertise extensively to sell their vacation packages, but you need to do your homework too and decide what your expectations are before seeing what you are offered. Here are a few tips you may need when in search of a quiet inexpensive travel lodge, and and ask yourself these questions for a good start.

Do you want to go on holiday on or off the peak season? Are you tight to a fix date for the holiday? How much can you afford to spend on a travel lodge? How many people are going on the trip with you? Plenty of hostels, hotels, apartments and condos are suitable as travel lodge accommodation with different levels of comfort, starting with regular amenities and ending with luxury apartments. From travel lodge to travel lodge it is normal for the rates to differ, not to mention that far in advance booking contributes to getting a really fair discount. Thus, some hotels even allow one the flexibility to book rooms twelve months in advance.

Internet portals facilitate the finding of a travel lodge considerably, as many of them include travel-related menu options. But for such technologies we have access to at present, it could be impossible to find a nice affordable travel lodge quickly. So far we have talked about holiday makers who need convenient travel lodge solutions, but there are very business people who have jobs that involve a lot of traveling, and they too can benefit from the use of travel-related web sites. Some companies make their deals through rental contracts for a travel lodge in order to provide the commuting employees the chance to work in convenient conditions.

The booking of such a travel lodge is made only after a negotiation of the contract, particularly if the company requires the use of the travel lodge for an indefinite period of time. Individual users in search of a travel lodge, who do not have the back covered by a corporation, should ponder over several quotes agreeing to any further rental formality, and fortunately web sites do allow comprehensive checking. As for the market tendencies, it is good to point out that there has been a reorientation in the travelers’ preferences for cottages, when traveling to Europe and Great Britain in particular.
