Wind powered systems generate electricity that is garnered from the wind. The amount of energy that is generated will depend on factors such as the wind itself, the type of generator that you use, what the energy that is generated is used for, etc. These factors need to be considered when you decide to use wind turbines.

If you are conscious of the environment and want to do your bit to protect it for future generations then wind powered systems are definitely the way to go. Although energy can be generated from other materials such as coal, petroleum, and propane, these are all harmful to the environment. Wind generating systems depend on one primary factor that will not provide any energy unless you have it. This factor is the wind. There is no guarantee every day that the wind will blow. This means that you cannot rely on this type of energy by itself but it may be an excellent supplement. Another factor that wind energy relies upon is the generator that is used for the system. Generators actually vary in size and the amount of energy that they have the ability to store. The larger the generator is the more energy that can be stored for use. Smaller generators don’t provide a lot of energy.

Kinetic powered watches are a good example. Inside is a small generator that is able to store small amounts of energy. Because watches are small they do not require much energy to operate. These watches rely on the movement of your arm but if your arm is not moving much not much energy will be stored and the watch will not function properly. Eventually it will run out of energy and cease to function at all.

Depending on what the energy that has been stored is used for will be a major contributing factor to the efficacy of the system. Invariably people with these wind turbines installed in their homes get to enjoy a saving of around twenty percent on the electricity bill. The average household does not use that much energy and so their the needs mean that the wind turbine will significantly reduce their dependence on the traditional electricity supply.

The amount of electricity that is generated through a wind powered system varies on many different factors. The different factors include the wind, the size of the generator, and how the energy is being used.

Wind energy is an excellent source of electricity and a natural way to provide electricity. The amount of energy that should only be expected to receive through this type of system is only 20% of what you normally receive.

The components you’ll build:

The wind generator consist of four parts, the blades and hub, the body, tail, and the tower it sits on. It takes longer to build the blades and hub than it does the rest of the system, so it’s best to get that over with first. It is very easy but takes some time.

The motor converts the rotation of the blades to electricity. It is the most expensive part. Your manual will tell you how to install it best and what size you’ll need and all the other technical details about this part.

For the body I recommend double walled stainless steel, which will last a long time and is very cheap. You can get it from a chimney pipe or a wood stove pipe.

The tail is very simple but usually essential to make sure your turbine is pointed in the right direction. Make it sturdy so it can withstand storm winds.

You can buy or build your own tower. The best thing to do is find an old TV tower and recycle it for you wind generator tower. Many people will even pay you to take them down and get them out of their way.

Now that you know some of the basics, you can see that it’s not that complicated or expensive to have your own residential wind power system to run your household. All you need now are the plans to get started.
