Printing Services - Over The Years
Print medium is a standard && potent way of disseminating info to numerous different types of people, and is apparent even these days. Over the years the printing services industry has grown immensely and has reached its current form of a diversified industry. Today it addresses a wide range of needs of customers, which goes much beyond printing.
Large volume printing services first originated sometime in the–00’s when Gutenberg invented the first printing press and the whole concept of relief printing was developed. In relief printing the printed image appears raised from the background, just as it exists in a rubber stamp. Relief printing is scarcely in use these days, though there are still some cases where it is used.
Technology has always been a driving force behind changes in printing techniques that have been embraced down the years. Modern printing methods have developed to a great extent, and each method has its own role and function. Most clients are in fact bewildered by the abundance of printing options available to them.
Offset printing is a well known printing technique favoured by most printers these days. In this method, the image is transferred onto paper from a metal plate on which the matter is first printed by the use of small amount of ink. This type of printing is quite cost effective and quick, and it is often preferred when large quantities of prints are required.
Evolution in printing technology has also introduced other printing techniques like thermal printing, that involves heating of coated thermal paper, and electrostatic printing, that is similar to photocopying.
However, digital printing is the newest printing method that is getting a lot of attention. As the name indicates, in this technique, images are created on a computer, which are then examined for accuracy and are finally printed. This mode is quick and error free, but is appropriate most of the times for limited prints. As this technique allows each print to be modified it has resulted in some novel uses like computer form printing, where documents like invoices and receipts are printed on a standard layout but with differing contents for each customer.
Another vital evolution in printing has dawned with the advent of the internet. Most printing companies have their own websites that allow customers to easily place orders and check out designs and specimens, without them having to walk or drive all the way to the firm’s premises for this reason.
Technological innovations have always brought about important positive changes in printing methods and the quality of the prints. The good news is that this trend of progress is going to continue unabated in the future too, bringing positive advancements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
