A fatal threat to someone whose safety I valued more than mine made me outgrow my privileged upbringing. Before that, I cared little for how to create safety, security in the home and neighborhood.
The entire time I was single was spent in one and the same residence, highly fortified and cloistered in an upscale district. My marriage to Kate instantly had me mounting a surveillance camera system in our newly acquired property not far from our offices.

At the thought of losing my other half, I mustered the courage to draw my stun gun finally. Kate produced a pepper spray I did not realize she had all along, and together, we took the perpetrator down. What a life-altering experience it was for me.
