Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR Camera is a bridge between a novice camera and a seasoned professional camera. It offers a perfect combination of high-speed and quality. This digital single lens reflex camera belongs to Canons EOS (Electro-Optical System) line of digital cameras. It works with Canons EF and EF-S lenses, which offers 1.6x magnification.

With its newly designed 15.1-megapixel APS-C size CMOS image sensor, it produces exceptional quality images. It can record up to 4752 x 3168 pixels of extremely fine images with full 14-bit A/D conversion. It offers wide range sensitivity of ISO 100 to 3200, with H1 of 6400 ISO and ISO 12800 for H2.

Sporting a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor with 920,000 (dots/VGA) pixels, it offers a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees. This bright and large LCD monitor offers more detailed display and has a smudge-resistant coating. It features Live View Function for composing, reviewing, editing and deleting image files.

The Live View Function enables critical focus by allowing you to zoom in and navigate composition 5x or 10x the normal size. It features Quick mode, Live mode and Face Detection Live mode to assist you in focusing your subject. This function also enables you to control the camera remotely. You can either use a computer through a USB cable or an optional accessory called Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E3A.

Canon EOS 50D digital SLR camera has speedy power-up and auto focus as well as reduced shutter release time lag. It offers continuous drive of 6.3 frames per second. It can produce 90 JPEGs with a UDMA CF card, 60 JPEGs with a CF card and 16 RAW images in bursts. So it is not too much to say that EOS 50D is one of the fastest cameras today.

The camera is designed with DIGIC 4 Image Processor, which uses advanced signal processing technologies. Compared to the previously developed DIGIC III, it offers finer details and more natural color reproduction. With this technology, the camera can operate faster.

DIGIC 4 Image Processor was designed to maximize the cameras performance between the capturing and recording stages of digital photography. It features Face Detection Live mode, Auto Lighting Optimizer and Peripheral Illumination Correction. These are the options you can use to detect and focus faces, control exposure and enhance the capabilities of your EF lenses.

With this camera, you can adjust details for a perfect exposure. It has Lens Peripheral Illumination Correction for correcting light fall offs. It can automatically detect correction data, which can also be entered manually.

Canon EOS 50D digital SLR camera uses 9 cross-type wide area Auto Focus that features a variety of focus modes. It also features self cleaning sensor unit, which removes dusts from the camera, as well as dust delete data detection function that will help you remove dusts on the image. For additional software, you can use the included Canon EOS Digital Solution Disk Version 17.0.
