In addition to the standard showcase of vendors selling homemade crafts and merchandise, the upcoming Mom’s Day Craft Show will provide enjoyment for every member of the family. Traditional elements will remain, of course; the unique jewelry as well as the handmade purses that are always popular will be there. But in addition to that, a balloon twister and some face painters will also make the scene more colorful.

The Mother’s Day Craft Fair will be held in the Illinois Union Ballrooms from 10am to 5pm. Admission will not cost you a cent. About a hundred vendors are scheduled to sell a wide variety of crafts; there will be ceramics, Christmas ornaments and totes, and other home ornaments. Jacques Anderson, the chair of the said event, said that about a thousand shoppers are to be expected. This is consistent with the attendance in previous years.

The Unique Twist, a balloon company led by Doug Smith, will make an appearance from 11am to 2pm. Even though they are rookies at the fair, their balloons will be given to the kids free of charge. This is not an ordinary balloon company, too, according to Smith. They shirk the traditional animal designs, and they prefer to make aliens and princess tiaras out of the balloons.

Mickey Lower, also known as the “Zoo Lady”, will also make an appearance. She will be available for face painting to all who are interested while she’s wandering the booths of the fair. Similar to Smith, the Zoo Lady breaks the constraints of her trade. While she can do the standard rainbow and whiskers design, she can also do so much more.

With the addition of these two talented individuals to the Mother’s Day craft fair, things are sure to liven up. Even adults can join in on the fun; have a beer mug balloon or get face paint along with your child. There shall be no dull moment at the fair!
