Choosing your Future Career

by Sharron D. Garth

Do you know what you want to do for the rest of your life? When I put it that way, it makes it sound so much bigger. Do you have your future career planned out? Some people are lucky enough to know what they want to do and know they will love it.

Others aren’t so lucky. They have no clue what they want to do. Just the idea of doing the same thing everyday until retirement in 40 some odd years makes it that much scarier.

Choosing your future career shouldn’t be so scary. You should be able to know that even if what you choose to go to college for falls through, it doesn’t mean your life is ruined forever.

If you don’t know where to start, look at your strengths and weaknesses. What are you good at? What school subjects did you excel at and enjoy? What do you like to do?

Stay away from jobs and careers that are in areas that you don’t like and are bad at. If you love math and are really good at it, look into a career that has math, not english if you hate english.

Now choose one or two areas of interest that are broad but that you might be interested in. Find out what careers are available in these fields and look into them further. Do any of these jobs look interesting to you?

Look further into interesting careers. Look at what they do, how much they earn, what the hours and working conditions are like, possible advancement, and anything else that is important to you in a job.

If you don’t know what kind of career you want, you should do a lot of research to find something you will like. Also, don’t worry about choosing the wrong one. You can also change your career path.

Lucid dreaming, also called conscious dreaming, is the process of being asleep while maintaining awareness of your dreams. While you’re in a dream state, you actually know that you’re dreaming. That can even allow you to control your dreams consciously.

The power of completely controlling your dreams might seem like something out of a fantasy novel, but it’s actually quite possible for anyone. Lucid dreaming is actually fairly easy, and offers you a wonderful way to express your inner desires and feelings. There are even tried and tested methods to get you into a lucid dream state.

To get there, you’ll have to know what you’d like to achieve. Do you just want to enjoy your dreams in a way you couldn’t before, are are you looking for a way to use your dreams to help you in other areas of life. No matter why you want to learn how to become a conscious dreamer, you should know your goal and be determined enough to get there.

After you’ve discovered why you want to start conscious dreaming, you’ll begin to learn the techniques to get you into the right frame of mind. Lucid dreaming requires a particular mental state. Most people learning how to do this start with dream recall. This is a simple matter of remembering the dreams you’ve had.

Learning to remember your dreams will help you to begin conscious dreaming. One thing which works for most is keeping a dream diary. Keep this beside your bed so that as soon as you awake (before your dreams can start melting away in the sun as they tend to do), you can write down all of the details you remember.

This technique will help you to start remembering your dreams very quickly. One you have learned to remember your dreams, it will become easier and easier to become conscious that they are happening. Many people find themselves not long after starting to keep a dream diary awakening in the middle of a dream and starting to take control of it.

In addition to use of a dream diary, another popular method is hypnosis. This can help you achieve the mental state required to enter conscious dreaming. Hypnosis can get people to remember the most minute details of their dreams after only a few sessions. After that, you’ll be ready to start conscious dreaming.

At first, you may discover that you occasionally wake up suddenly during a lucid dream. That’s fairly normal. All you need to do is recall the events of your dream as you fall back to sleep. Try hard to remember them, and you’ll be able to get back into the dream, and even be able to make it do whatever you want it to.

Another useful technique to induce lucid dreams is to wake up a few hours earlier than you habitually do and then going right back to sleep. In these hours before your usual waking time, lucid dreaming is much more likely to occur. You may not even be able to tell if you were lying awake or dreaming!

Be aware of your sleeping habits. Youll be able to determine when you are most likely to have lucid dreams. However, dont lose too much sleep ” fatigue and conscious dreaming dont mix.

Thankfully, conscious dreaming can be a good remedy for insomnia and other sleep disruptions! Once you develop lucid dreaming, you will be able to put a halt to the thoughts which keep you awake at night.

Many think of lucid dreaming as something which takes years of practice to learn; but in fact, it isnt that hard. It just takes a little practice to become a conscious dreamer.

Conscious dreaming is easy, and almost everyone can do it. Take a little time, and use one of these methods to unleash the power of lucid dreaming for yourself. You’ll be amazed at what you discover.

Do You Need A Kindle 2? Yes.

by Joseph W. Risinko

Kindle 2 units are arriving all over the US, as Amazon not only keeps to their delivery schedule but, in some cases, beats it to the punch. Kindle 2 Keyboard: I think the Kindle 2 keyboard is a massive improvement over the original Kindle (not that I owned the original Kindle), but I find that its not very user friendly, at least not for me. Kindle 2 is very slim and Apple-esque.

The redesigned Kindle 2 ebook reader got favorable reviews at the launch in New York City. [1] The connectivity needed to download books and browsing certain other sites is free of charge: The Kindle Store enables you to download, display and use on your Device a variety of digitized electronic content, such as books, subscriptions to magazines, newspapers, journals and other periodicals, blogs, RSS feeds, and other digital content. With the new Text-to-Speech feature, Kindle 2 can read every book, blog, magazine, and newspaper out loud to you.

The Kindle 2 is exactly what people want in a digital reader ” simple, sleek design. The Kindle 2 is BUILT to be a reader, and as such, does a great job. The newest Reader is fast, fast and faster.

With Kindle 2 Amazon kept everything readers love about the original Kindle”the convenience of reading what you want, when you want it, the immediacy of getting a book wirelessly delivered in less than 60 seconds, and Kindle 2s ability to disappear in your hands so you can get lost in the authors words. The Kindle 2 actually feels comfortable in my hand now”unlike the original Kindle which is much to angular and sharp-edged to be comfortable after an hour of reading. You will be able to eat with both hands while reading your current read.

Like some other electronic paper products, the Kindle 2 uses “e-ink” technology, which serves to make the letters and words on the screen look more printlike in their appearance. A lot of people, when they first see the screen, are genuinely impressed. The 600-by-800-resolution screen is the same size, measuring 6 inches; but now, packing the latest E-Ink technology, it gives you 16 shades of gray versus the 4 shades available on the original Kindle.

Wireless: 3G wireless lets you download books right from your Kindle, anytime, anywhere; no monthly fees, service plans, or hunting for Wi-Fi hotspots. Kindle was an interesting concept, and its ability to load books quickly and wirelessly was innovative- but as the author states, it seems much more likely that other devices will step in and do what the Kindle merely suggests: a better screen, better interface, and perhaps best of all much less DRM on the content. I love the wireless features, dictionary, electronic ink, etc. Especially with the wireless capability to get what I wanted on demand.

The availability of books in the Kindle format or any other eBook format is at the discretion of the publisher and/or author, NOT Amazon. However, I think that the advantages of eBooks over printed ones are great enough that the main factor affecting sales will be the popularity of reading vs that of listening to music.

Im a HUGE news junkie, and I would love to subscribe to the New York Times, the Washington Post, and a host of other faltering newspapers on my new Kindle 2. The weeks that I have spent with my Kindle 2 has made it clear that it is miles ahead of the competition. With an 800×600 resolution e-ink screen and unlimited free Internet access, the Kindle 2 makes a compelling choice for anyone who enjoys reading.

All About Winter Sports Insurance

by Lucille Green

At this time of year skiing is at the forefront of many peoples minds but there is always some worry about whether the snowfall will be adequate. This year has already seen a good fall of snow which was painfully needed after last years poor showing.

Each year hundreds of thousands take to the slopes for the first time but alas some will return home with an injury nor will it be just the first timers as the more knowledgeable will take on new challenges as well. Owing to the nature of skiing injuries, it is important to guarantee that you are properly covered with a winter sports insurance plan and not just rely on standard travel insurance unless it specifies that skiing is catered for (normally|generally] for beginners and those who are intermediate).

The reason for this is that although this group will still have accidents, they are more likely to be on normal, well used slopes and not off piste slopes favored by more experienced skiers. Serious accidents are more likely with knowledgeable skiers, trying their hand on slopes that are more hazardous and not part of the regular runs. This is where the unwary can very quickly become unstuck and we are not talking about the snowfall conditions so most winter sports insurance policies will have restrictions when venturing from the regular runs.

Before you decide to go off piste it is essential you check your winter sports insurance plan as there will undoubtedly be conditions which may include cover only when there is a guide or the run is in the resort area. As newer types of challenges have arisen like half pipes as just one example; risks have increased for skiers that want to try something different.

If you do not want hefty medical exam bills before you return home it is essential you check to make sure your winter sports insurance protect|covers]s you in the event of an accident for these types of activity. You may find your up-to-date travel insurance will cover you for winter sports but this may be limited and will not cover certain activities you may be planning although many companies will allow you to upgrade your travel insurance to include winter sports that do not fall within the policy.

With the growing popularity of skiing and snowboarding, some companies offer specialist winter sports insurance plans but you need to check the details of these for a comparison. A winter sports insurance package will usually cover areas such as ski equipment, ski hire, even lack of services due to closure or avalanches.

The more expert you are, the more likely you will need more specialist cover than supplied by the common high street provider as mountain rescue and medical costs are expensive and if this requires repatriation then the costs mount up rapidly. Just remember it will be too late to arrange the insurance to protect you after you have been injured.

Bathroom Remodeling Is Not A Simple Job

by Sally Greenfield

If you have embarked on some remodeling in your home chances are that you will need to create a floor plan for the bathroom. Whether you are going to renovate your current bathroom, or if you are building a whole new one, you will obviously be needing a proper floor plan.

Precise measurements are extremely important as accuracy in your floor plan is very essential for obvious reasons. The measurements and locations of features such as the windows and door need to be reflected in the floor plan as well. In order to make compiling the floor plan a little bit easier you might want to begin with scale paper. That way you can go ahead and make any changes that need to be noted.

Aside from the classing paper drafting and drawing of the bathroom floor plan, one may also find ideas on the Internet. There is wealth of resources offering different designs that can help you find the perfect bathroom without going over your budget.

Here are some other useful tips while drawing your floor plan on remodeling your bathroom.

Plumbing Must Be Your Starting Point

The very first thing you need to include in your bathroom floor plan is the plumbing. Sooner or later you will more than likely require the services of a plumber and so you need to ensure that the plumbing is all easily accessible for repair jobs. When it comes to working on the plumbing for your new or remodeled bathroom, you will probably need the help of a qualified plumber. If at all possible try to make use of the existing plumbing. For example, build a new upstairs bathroom above the kitchen or a downstairs bathroom. In this way your plumber can simply attach the new plumbing to the existing plumbing.

Exercise Some Objectivity

Your bathroom floor plan design also needs to reflect what the bathroom will look like upon completion so you need to consider the space and make some decisions. For example, your floor plan must indicate where you want the bath to be situated, whether there will be a shower cubical or not, and where the window/s will be.

Make Information Available

Remember that when it comes to items such as the vanity table, towel racks, mirrors, cabinets and shelving, your plumber will be needing this information because electrical outlets, or plug sockets, will be put in.

It is absolutely essential that before you begin to do anything you must have a readily prepared bathroom floor plan to avoid unnecessary mishaps. Renovating our existent bathroom, or designing a new one, is not a simple task, in fact it can be quite an overwhelming one.

To most people, dog food is synonymis with kibble. Commercially manufactured bagged kibble and canned wet food has been synonymous with kibble or over fifty years.

Although the first processed dog biscuit was first invented by James Spratt of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1860, it was World War II that spurred commercial manufacturers to first start pushing the ease of kibble and canned food onto the already stretched family unit. It was convenient, affordable and no one considered the quality of the food or the ingredients that went into this new time saver because it had to be better than the table scraps that domestic animals enjoyed at the time, right?

They couldn’t have been more wrong!

In fact, early commercial dog food manufacturers agreed that feeding dogs meat, vegetables and some grains was better for the dogs than the processed kibble they were making from meat scraps, meat- by-products, and factory waste, such as saw dust and grain husk. Convenient? Absolutely! Cheap - not in the long run. Healthy? You can excuse the early adopters but, generations later, dog diseases are near epidemic levels. In spite of the evidence that something is wrong, millions of people continue to give their dogs manufactured dog food.

The commercial pet food industry has been a win-win operation for everyone involved. Instead of paying for removal and disposal, grain farmers and slaughterhouses actually made money selling left overs to dog food manufacturers, that were unfit for human consumption. Unaware dog owners were easy targets for slick Madison Avenue advertising agencies. Purina pushed the envelope when they developed an extrusion process; a technique that puffed up the kibble before drying, making it appear like more than it actually was.

In 1964, without scientific basis, the Pet Food Institute began their massive media campaign against table scraps. Veterinarians throughout the world jumped on the bandwagon and by the early 1960s, few people were feeding their four-legged family members anything but this wondrous, convenient and readily available food.

The Carriage Clock gets its name because it was created to be used by people traveling by carriage. As you might surmise, this was a bit of a rigorous transportation method. As a result, the clock had to be tough enough to handle the rocky ride, while still keeping good time.

A Carriage Clock isn’t very big, and the most unique thing about it is its large top handle. This is what allowed for greater portability. These sturdy clocks were made of metal, most often brass. The face of the clock was covered with glass for added protection.

A Little about the History of the Carriage Clock

During the technological advancements of clock making in the 19th century, the fad turned towards the Carriage Clock. It was a sign of being fashionable for the upper class to own a clock of this type. They were a typical part of the luggage when traveling. The mode of transportation by this time also included the train. This was another bumpy means of transportation so the clock withstood traveling by this means as well. Most of the Carriage Clocks made during this time had a leather case used for traveling.

Beginning around the 1830s, hundreds of these clocks were manufactured and exported all over the world. These were simple, well made clocks with easy-to-read Roman numerals and black hands. The face was a white enamel, making it simple to read the time. In the absence of sunlight, candle light was the primary means of lighting, so the white enamel drastically improved the clock’s visibility.

The Labor of Love

The Carriage Clock is one of the best loved clocks of it’s time. The popularity of this clock has not waned. Many people today have them on mantels or bookcases in their homes. Only 30 or 40 years ago the original clocks were easy to find, but they have become a collector’s item. This has reduced the numbers dramatically. There are replicas of the original Carriage Clock available and many are hard to discern from the real thing.

A number of companies specialize in creating exact replicas of the clock, with the same black Roman numerals and white enamel face that inspire memories of an era long past. This version of the Carriage Clock is by far the most common. It is called an Anglaise, since it was created by the French to cater to English preferences. It is the most frequently replicated style owing to its popularity during the heyday of the Carriage Clock.

Carriage Clocks are still popular, more than a hundred years after they were introduced. Clock hunters eagerly scour estate sales and antique shops in search of an original clock. Even now, these clocks are considered a sign of elegance and good taste. When the search for an authentic clock comes up empty, many people choose to purchase a replica that closely matches the original. This clock has been incredibly popular, in spite of the passing of more than a century, and it is likely to remain popular into the foreseeable future.

Pink BMX - Overview

by Andrew Sutton

Things to consider: Who will be riding the BMX bicycle? How long will Junior ride this BMX bike before he graduates to a mountain bike, or loses interest altogether and picks up a skateboard? How important is a brand name?

Even with more expensive BMX bicycles, the price can be inflated for a fashionable bike or one that’s endorsed by a popular pro rider, even though it may not offer any better features or construction than a cheaper model. There’s much less differentiation of quality among brands than advertising and certain salespeople would have you believe. This is particularly true of less-expensive BMX bikes, many of which are made in the same factories overseas and then painted with different companies’ logos. So, much of the purchasing decision will come down to you or your child’s riding preference, his or her need to follow fashion, and of course, the amount you are willing to spend on a bike.

Features to look out for: They usually feature 36-spoke wheels and should come equipped with knobby tires for better traction. On a dirt.racing BMX bicycles usually require only single, rear wheel brakes. Depending on the type of BMX riding you’re interested in, BMX racing bikes need to be lightweight as well as rugged.

Freestyle BMX bikes, on the other hand, are ridden on the street so you’ll want smooth tires and 48-spoke wheels for increased strength. The handlebars should be able to spin 360 degrees and the frame should have 2 or 4 axle pegs for supporting the rider while he or she performs freestyle tricks. A freestyle BMX bicycle should have brakes on the front wheel as well as the rear, along with special stunt components such as cable detanglers so the cables don’t break or become knotted when you spin the handlebars in mid-air.

Like a racing BMX bicycle, a dirt jumping bike will only need a single, rear wheel brake. These bikes usually feature heavier duty frames and axles as well, with reinforced gussets in order to withstand the heavy landings from huge air jumps. BMX dirt-jumping bikes also need 48-spoke wheels, but with knobby rather than smooth tires, again for maintaining a good grip on dirt-jumping mounds.

Possible Extra Kit Young kids and beginners should only ride within their skill and experience levels. Any rider will need elbow and knee pads in addition to a safety helmet, especially those involved in freestyle riding and dirt jumping. It’s worth telling your kids that tricks and stunts performed on telly are by undertaken by skilled pro riders with years of experience.

The Size does it matter? As your childs riding style changes or they grow, you might need to buy a longer seat post or adjust the handle bars to accommodate those changes. Unless you are shopping for a very young child, there are usually only minor variations in the size of a BMX bicycle frame. Variations that reflect the riding style of a rider rather than they body size.

The Department Store or Local It is of consideration that buying a BMX bicycle from a department store rather than a specialist bike shop may not provide you with the follow-up replacement parts you may need in the future. A local bicycle shop will likely not only offer the most helpful & friendly advice during buying, but after you’ve made your purchase, they’ll also be there with mechanical support as well. A bigger selection will mean better choices, better deals, and sales people who are also riders of BMX bikes themselves.

Some money saving advice As with other types of bikes, getting the best deal when purchasing a BMX bicycle is not just about knowing how to shop, but also when to shop. If you can wait until autumn or winter when sales dip you are more likely to pick up a bargain deal from a shop that is eager to sell the older model BMX bicycles to make way for the next year’s model. BMX bicycle prices can vary throughout the year, with the most popular time to buy a new BMX bike being the spring or summer.

Andrew Histon has been messing about with Pink BMX Bikes since his teens. When not writing articles he is busy in the garage. You may see many of his articles around the internet.

Wheelchair Lift for your Vehicle

by Debbie Normski

If you have a disability that restricts you from walking you will require assistance to get yourself around, that why most people will use a wheelchair for this purpose. One difficultly they have is normally climbing into or out of a vehicle.

The routine will look like this; you will need their help to enter the vehicle after which they will help you put your wheelchair in the trunk and vice versa when exiting the vehicle. This can change if you use a wheelchair lift. The user can now enter and exit cars or vans by just using a leveller. Hence now they have become independent once more.

Fit a wheelchair lift to your vehicle

Once you have decided that a wheelchair lift is needed for you to gain access to your vehicle it is best to contact your dealership who will give advice and possibly arrange the work for you and soon you will have your own wheelchair lift.

Vans are normally the preferred mode of transport to install a wheelchair lift due to there size compared to cars. This additional size is required to allow easier access when entering or leaving the van. However it can still be done on most types of cars if required and in no time you will be entering your vehicle by a flick of a switch.

Handicapped Parking Spaces are bigger

If you have noticed typically most handicapped lots are much wider than the average car park lot. This is to allow for the additional room required for the wheelchair lift to work. You will need an extra one metre or two to get your wheelchair along side the ramp for you to comfortably access your car. So any where you see a handicapped lot you will have the additional space required to operate your wheelchair lift,

No More Inconvenience

If you require a wheelchair to get around for your daily chores, you don’t want to be inconvenienced. There are many ways to make your life simpler and wheelchair lifts are just one of the ways it can be done. There are many places that sell wheelchair lifts, such as the store you brought your wheelchair from. No longer do you have to be helped in and out of vehicles but you can be independent again.

You just need to move your wheelchair up to the wheelchair lift you will be hoisted directly into your vehicle where you can drive away or be driven to your destination.
